YOUTHFUL AND PURPOSEFUL
The youthful period of a man's life is the most sacred phase of his life. So much that every
actions and decisions made at this period can either make or mar a person. Sincerely, I pity those
youths that live their life today like there's no tomorrow. I'm talking about the categories of
youths that waste away living their life without any principle or moral. I'm talking about the set of
youths that live their life freely without any check and balance. Forgetting that the outcome of
their life in years to come will be a product of how well they lived their life in time past. Hmm.
Nothing happens in a vacuum in life . Every action has a series of consequences.
“Rejoice, O young man, in your adolescence, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your
[full-grown] youth. And walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes, but know
that for all these things God will bring you into judgment” - Ecclesiastes 11:9 AMPC
That's why I'll always say that it pays to serve Jesus. A youth with Christ is a youth with a
deference. Believe me when I tell you that you can't have Christ in your life and live a purpose
less life. It is not possible. Christ makes the deference.
A youth in Christ has direction. They will definitely know what do to at every phase of their life
because they are directed by God. Such life can never exist in a vacuum because God is our maker
and he knows what's best for us.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of
evil, to give you an expected end” - Jeremiah 29:11 KJV
In our youthfulness lies strength . In our youthfulness lies vigour. The energy we have as a youth
is intact. The speed top notched. It is expedient that we exhaust all there is to be done as a youth
before old age sets it. The older we get, our responsibilities become bigger and our time becomes
more consumed. What one fails to do as a youth comes back to hunt one in old age. Which brings
me to ask; what exactly are you doing with your youthfulness? How are you being useful to the
kingdom of God now? What exactly are you doing now?
“The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is their gray head
[suggesting wisdom and experience]” - Proverbs 20:29 AMPC
As I said earlier, the ways of a youth in Christ is directed by God himself. So he definitely has a
purpose. He can't exist in a vacuum. Who says you are too young for God's leading? Go through
your bible and read about people like Daniel, David, Mary, Esther, Shedrack, Meshach, Abednego
and so many others, God used them mightily for his glory irrespective of the fact that they were
young.
But the Lord said to me, “Say not, I am only a youth; for you shall go to all to whom I shall send
you, and whatever I command you, you shall speak” - Jeremiah 1:7 AMPC
We can not be young forever. Anyone who thinks otherwise had better woken up from his/her
slumber. This make it of paramount importance to be mindful of what we spend our days doing
as a youth. Sincerely, we can't afford to live in a vacuum. There is a purpose behind every
existence. We didn't just come to fill up space. We were created to fulfil a particular assignment.
The question now is what purpose were you created for? What drives you? What wakes you up in
the middle of the night with your heart racing?
There is a usual saying that states that when the purpose of a thing is not know, abuse is
inevitable. Take for instance when I try to using a sieve to take water, I will definitely be wasting
my time on what I should have used a cup for. You see a sieve serves a dierent purpose from a
cup. It is when I use a sieve to perform the work of a cup that there will be problem. It simply
means I've misused the item. So is it with anyone that doesn't know his/her purpose on this
earth. It can be a tragedy. That's why it is important to get information from the one who owns
the manual of our lives. The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is
their grey head [suggesting wisdom and experience].
Remember: The glory of young men is their strength, and the beauty of old men is their grey
head [suggesting wisdom and experience] - Proverbs 20:29 AMPC
